Be Ready

Proverbs 18:20 – “With the fruit of a man’s mouth his stomach will be satisfied; He will be satisfied with the product of his lips.”

This verse reminds me of the time Jesus talked with the Samaritan woman at the well. He was sharing words of truth and life with her explaining who true worshipers were.

John 4:23 “But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. True worshipers that the Father seeks are those who worship Him in spirit and truth.”

The truth is we have been redeemed by the blood of the lamb of God when we accept as a gift His sin atoning work on the cross. Then He has sealed the deal with the gift of His Holy Spirit who guides us into laying down our lives for the One who gave His life for us. This is true worship to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice.

As the Lord was talking to the Samaritan woman she was so amazed by his words of knowledge and understanding of the things of God that she went to get the townsfolk to come and hear Jesus. Meanwhile his disciples came to him urging Him to eat, “But He said to them, “I have food to eat that you do not know about.” Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work.”

The Lord was there, at the well, being obedient to the Father and sharing the good news of the kingdom to this influential woman in Samaria. His words were producing spiritual fruit. The account says that many people believed in Jesus here because of this woman’s testimony of Him and many more believed because they heard words of life from Him directly. Jesus was being filled up and satisfied with this beautiful fruit of the kingdom of God in Samaria.

It is our privilege too, to be filled with the fruit of our lips as we share the good news and testimonies with others of what the Lord has done for us. This word going forth is able to bring people into His kingdom (under the rule and reign of God), to set captives free, to heal the sick and give sight to the blind. Oh there is so much filling up with joy when you share the glorious riches of Jesus!

Be ready each day to share about God’s goodness with others!
