Bear Robbed of Her Cubs

January 17, 2017 Kingdom Daily Wisdom

Book: Proverbs 17

“It is safer to meet a bear robbed of her cubs than to confront a fool caught in foolishness.”

A mother bear is extremely protective of her cubs and it is extremely dangerous to be anywhere near where they are. If you get between her and her cubs or close to them, she assumes that you are out to hurt them and will confront you with rage. If her cubs are missing, in her anger, she will assume the first person or large animal she comes across is the guilty party and will have her revenge. She will not back down.

This proverb warns about getting near a person who is determined to go against God and His wisdom, especially when their decisions have resulted in failure causing them to get even more angry. This proverb states that such a person is even more dangerous than an angry mother bear. Stay away because the issue is between them and God. Since they will lash out at whoever is close at hand. Until they are ready to repent and turn the only thing you can do is pray for them that they will stop and turn back to God.

There are some who may feel they want to try to help this person and so will try to talk with them. If they are deliberately going against God, are mad at God, and have just got caught out because of their foolishness, this is not the time to talk with them. The time to talk is when they have settled down and understand that what they are doing is hurting themselves. They need to hit the bottom and know that the only way out is to look up …look back up to God with open hands rather than shaking fists.

As Kingdom builders we are called and have a heart to help people but the King’s wisdom also directs us to be discerning. If God is disciplining someone to bring them back to Himself we need to make sure we only do what God wants us to do in that situation. He will give His people their assignments at the appropriate time. Doing it on our own strength will not result in a positive outcome, and will not honor the Lord.

Be careful around those who are angry and lashing out at God. In fact, stay as far away from them as possible until you know very clearly God is calling you to get involved to bring them back to Himself.
