Book: Proverbs 3
“Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”
As a child I would get a model car or some other toy that required assembling. My first reaction was to put it together on my own as I saw fit which usually resulted in broken parts and an incomplete mess. What I should have done was pull out the instructions and follow them. You have heard the saying “if all else fails read the instructions!” The instructions were there right from the beginning when I opened the package but I thought I didn’t need them. As I matured the instructions were the first thing I would look at and FOLLOW.
The first step in being all that you can be here on earth is to “seek his will in all you do”. As you do, this is what He says in response: (Jeremiah 29:11-13) “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.”
God, your creator, actually has plans for your life that are good. They give you a future and hope. It requires listening to Him each step of the way. It is not a one-time event but rather a seeking each day.
He confirms this truth in Psalm 32:8 when He says “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.” The image I get from this verse is of a father who is hovering over a young child who is just learning to walk using their new found freedom to explore new territory. The Father keeps the child from danger by gently directing him on the path. The father talks to the child, explaining dangers and warning of consequences.
Choose today to seek God and listen to what He is saying about all that you do today. Remember, He is looking out for you and has the very best plan for you!
