Come, Listen and Be Wise

December 1, 2016 Kingdom Daily Wisdom

Book: Proverbs 1

“Come and listen to my counsel. I’ll share my heart with you and make you wise.”

When I stop and consider this proverb, I am overwhelmed by the opportunity being offered by our almighty, all knowing, and all powerful God.

First He invites you and me to come to Him. He does not want any barriers between us and Him. He wants to make sure we know that He wants us to come to Him. He wants to walk with us through absolutely everything.

Secondly, He wants to speak to us, therefore we need to listen to Him. When God has something to say it is important and worth stopping what we are doing to hear Him. It is amazing that He wants to talk to us, His creation, even though His understanding and wisdom is so much higher and greater than we can comprehend.

Thirdly, He says, “I’ll share my heart with you…” Our God, who created this world from nothing, who sustains it day in and day out, who knows the beginning and the end, desires to share with you and me very intimate things. He has chosen to share His heart with us because of His love for us. Consider how important it must be to Him. We were each going our own way, ignoring Him, and lost, but God sent His Son Jesus, to die on the cross so that we might have a right relationship with Him. That is what makes it possible for us to be able to hear what is on His heart. This is God’s crazy love for us. I am overwhelmed thinking about this.

“But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!).” Ephesians 2:4-5

It is through coming, listening and acting on what we know is on God’s heart that makes us wise. We can’t take any credit for it we can only receive it and obey. He wants us to come to Him. He wants us to listen to what is on His heart. He wants us to be wise. The choice is ours.

Take time today to talk with God and ask Him what is on His heart. Then obey Him and experience great joy in being wise!
