For Him

Book: Proverbs 16

“The Lord has made everything for his own purposes, even the wicked for a day of disaster.”

In the first and last chapter of Revelation the Lord God says, “I am the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end.” It also says, “I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty One.” God and His purposes were, are, and will be. He existed before time, He created time and will continue to be after time passes. Everything is about Him and for Him.

Starting back in Genesis 1 when God had finished creating all things for His own purpose and looked over all of it, “ he saw that it was very good!” There were not any mistakes, it was just how He wanted it. It was for His honour and glory. God planned it, built it, and continues to engage with His creation today. It is all about Him.

Many leaders and kings have acted and ruled as if they were God. Even in those cases God is not surprised by their words and actions as if He didn’t know it was going to happen. God ended up using them to bring glory to Himself. Pharoah in Exodus 9, would not obey God and experienced plagues on his land and people. In the midst of it God sent Moses one more time to Pharaoh to pass on this message to him, “I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” Notice the story points back to God’s story of reaching the world and Him being worshiped. It is all about Him!

We often want to try and understand God and all of His works but the reality is that we are incapable of this. We can only start to know what He has revealed to us. His works and plans are far beyond what we can imagine. We must remember that he created us, not we created Him! Ecclesiastes 3:11 says “Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.” It is all about God and His plans.

The good news is that God made you specifically for Him. He has the perfect plan for your life which is part of His story in progress. He is even preparing the perfect eternity for you which is with Him!
