Book: Proverbs 13
“Wealth from get-rich-quick schemes quickly disappears; wealth from hard work grows over time.”
The internet is full of “Get-Rich-Quick” schemes. They suggest that a life of money, toys and travel is available to you if you follow their system. I heard one on the radio that suggested that you don’t have to be smart to succeed as there are many others who aren’t who have joined and are making big money. The truth is, the only ones who get rich are the ones who are selling the scheme. I have spoken to people who have been taken in by these schemes and end up losing money that they do not have to spend. They struggle with why they were not able to make a go of it when the advertisement said that they would be a success.
Most “Get-Rich-Quick” schemes cater to the “lusts of the flesh” luring people in by pleasures. It is all about what they can do not about what God is wanting them to do. The question that must be asked is where does God fit in all of this? Is life all about pleasure or does He have something greater for each person?
Each dollar that is earned through hard work is valued much higher than money quickly gained. It is much more likely to be used wisely. The research shows that 70% of big lottery winners go bankrupt with 44% doing so within 5 years of receiving it. Their happiness does spike at the time of winning but then returns to the level it was before. It would seem slow and steady wins the race.
Commit before the Lord to include Him and His wisdom in all of your financial decisions, trusting Him to provide and lead you in the best financial pathway for your life.
