Book: Proverbs 21

“The Righteous One knows what is going on in the homes of the wicked; he will bring disaster on them.”

God, the Righteous One, the all knowing One is totally aware of what is going on in private and in public. I find it interesting that as the plagues hit Egypt, Pharaoh fought so hard to keep God’s people as slaves. He might have thought at first that the Hebrew God was weak and didn’t know what he was up to but after the hail damaged his country he said this ‘This time I have sinned,’ he confessed. ‘The LORD is the righteous one, and my people and I are wrong.’ (Exodus 9:27). Pharaoh still tried to hold out a little longer against the Righteous One who know all things.

After Saul, who became the apostle Paul later, had been blinded by a bright light from heaven on the road to Damascus and had to be led into the city, a man called Ananias came to him. Ananias healed his eyes and then said, “The God of our ancestors has chosen you to know his will and to see the Righteous One and hear him speak…” (Acts 22:14). Up to this point Saul had been tracking down Christians and persecuting them thinking that this was the right thing to do. As a Pharisee he saw himself as highly righteous. God had Ananias use the term “Righteous One” which Saul would have understood as God, the one who knows all things, including his wickedness. Paul could not hide what he had done from the Righteous One. He knew he had to change. Later on Paul said, “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners and I am the worst of them all.” (1 Timothy 1:15).

At times it may seem like the wicked are benefiting, and even winning. Before God sent Moses back to Egypt, before Saul was blinded on the road to Damascus, the ungodly ones looked like they were winning. The Righteous One brought all of this to a halt. Pharaoh ended up losing his life because his heart was hardened and he would not turn to God. Saul ended up gaining life by surrendering to the Righteous one.

Be encouraged today that surrendering to the Righteous One, the One that knows what is going on in your home as well as those beside you is the best path for you. Allow Him to direct and guide you.
