Book: Proverbs 4
“My Children, listen when your father corrects you.”
“My Child, listen to me and do as I say,”
“My Child… listen carefully to my words.”
As adults we usually do not enjoy being called a child. Being the youngest in my family, my siblings enjoy telling embarrassing stories about me when I was a child. I am not going to share any of those today with you as I am sure you have your own embarrassing moments. Listen to what Jesus says about being a child: Luke 18:16 Then Jesus called for the children and said to the disciples,
“Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children.”
Children are like sponges when it comes to learning. The younger they are the more they have to learn. They take in by watching, listening, and experiencing. Sometime we can see our own children imitating our actions, this is part of the learning process.
As Kingdom people we need to be like children and be willing to absorb all that God wants to tell us. That means we need to be carefully listening to him and obeying. He loves us so much and he wants to show us, teach us, and become all that he made us to be. We need to first receive like Children!
Take a few minutes and ask the Lord to help you be like a child listening to him this day. Ask him to help you to hear from him today and obey.
