Book: Proverbs 10
“A wise youth harvests in the summer, but one who sleeps during harvest is a disgrace.”
God gives each one of us opportunities. Some of us will take advantage of the opportunities resulting in great benefits while others let them pass by and keep asking why they do not have. Opportunities often have a window of time to receive the gain and then it is gone just like picking the ripe produce.
September is a time when many fruit trees are ready to give their ripe yield. They do not wait until it is convenient for the harvester to pick as there is a season and then the product will fall to the ground. We have two apple tree’s. One of them is finished producing for the year while the other will be ready in a couple of weeks. Because its harvest season is over, I can’t now go to the first tree expecting apples from it.
For youth, other adults have planted into their lives and it is up to them now to take full advantage of the opportunities. Many students went back to school this past week after a summer break. This is their time to “harvest” as they have the opportunity to learn. Those in elementary grades will learn foundational skills so that they will be able to advance to junior high grades and then senior high grades. The high school students benefit from what they’ve learned in elementary grades. Once these students graduate from grade 12 they will have the next opportunity before them.
Each day is a harvest day with God. He has new things for us to learn and gather. He wants to provide wisdom and help but we have to be willing to receive it. Kingdom builders are eager to receive the great harvest of truth the King has for them. Isaiah 55:6 says, “Seek the LORD while you can find him.
Call on him now while he is near.” Today He is near and is waiting for you to receive from Him! Take full advantage of this opportunity today!
