Book: Proverbs 12
“The Lord approves of those who are good, but he condemns those who plan wickedness.”
Some of us have a natural tendency to want to please people. We are looking for affirmation from others to sustain our self worth. As a child, it is natural for them to want to show their parents what they can do and what they have learned. It is important for a parent to give that approval the child is seeking.
As Kingdom builders and children of God, we too should look for approval from our King and heavenly Father. He enjoys seeing us succeed and doing well with the gifts, talents and assignments He has given us. He wants to help us with this. He is watching us constantly with loving eyes. We run into trouble when we choose to seek approval from others than from our Lord as we take our eyes off of Him. This can get us discouraged, disappointed or working harder than we need to resulting in burn out.
The approval we need to seek out is God’s approval knowing He approves those who are seeking Him. Matthew 6:33 says, “seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” If we are seeking Him we are seeking what is good!
Stop and consider what or who you are seeking your approval from. If adjustment needs to be made to your source of approval, tell the Lord and ask him to help you receive your approval from Him. Then walk through this day with Him thanking Him that He is the one you receive approval from. He is the one who is most important to you.
