Book: Proverbs 24
“If you fail under pressure, your strength is too small.”
When the weather gets warm it is time to make sure there is propane in the tank to start up the BBQ! That propane tank has gone through testing to make sure it can withstand the pressure that it is rated for. It is important that the seams of the tank are welded cleanly without any weak points. All it takes is one place where the weld is not “strong” and the whole tank is useless. The purpose of the propane tank is to be able to hold propane under pressure.
The word “pressure” can be translated as distress, affliction, tribulation, adversity and trouble. None of us wants to fail in the midst of trouble yet we often feel weak and unsure how to get through it. So how do we succeed? Psalm 50:15 reminds us of the help that is available to get through the pressure: “Then call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory.” Psalm 37:39 reminds us further that God will be our fortress or our strength during those challenging times: “The LORD rescues the godly; he is their fortress in times of trouble. The LORD helps them, rescuing them from the wicked. He saves them, and they find shelter in him.”
If you are going through challenges, invite the Lord to be your fortress and strength. Ask him to give you the wisdom you need to walk through the pressure in the way that will bring glory to Him. He does not want to destroy you but strengthen you!
